Fair point, later they developed some nice compositions (but do not get me started on Paul McCartney’s attempt at orchestral composition-cats and dogs even refuse to play along). But my main point should have been that due to hysteria and novelty of what they brought-this new soundtrack to the 60’s/70
s etc. has been much overhyped, I recognise them as a product of their time-but not as accomplished in musical ingenuity as people make out…if that makes sense? I feel there are many underrated.

Well yes in their earlier material they used extremely easy chords. However, if you look at some of there other composistions its absolutley amazing. Especially in the time period that they evolved from their rock n roll/pop influence to something beyond that.

By saying overrated, people usually think the person believes the band in question not to be good-this is not so, I do love the Beatles, a lot of their songs I remember my mum playing when I was younger-however, the chords in their songs, their compositions were never that challenging, they use the classic easy pop chords-I should have explained that I mean they are overrated as “the best” because so many other musicians are more complex and talented in their compositions and musical ability

You call this a debate? A debate is usually the coming together of intellectuals who proceed to present and counter ideas in such a way as to convince the opposing side…you…do nothing!
